While Terrie was researching this episode, she told me that your personal lucky god is based on what day of the week you were born. She said hers was Ebisu because she was born on a Wednesday.
“You can’t be born on a Wednesday,” I said, "because I was born on Wednesday, February 14th, and you were born on February 11th of the same year.
All her life she thought she was born on a Wednesday.
It just goes to show that you’re never too old to learn something new about yourself.
This episode made me think of the rhyme:
Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace.
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go.
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living.
And the child born on the Sabbath day
Is bonny and blithe, good and gay.
(I think there are many variations). It seems pretty hard on the poor kids born on Wednesdays and Saturdays - a personal Shichifukujin is much more wholesome! (BTW I’m a Sunday’s child like Terrie. At least I think I am…)
